On October 21st, the 2025 Qingdao-Germany Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Meeting was successfully held in Düsseldorf. Nearly 200 Chinese and German guests attended the meeting to discuss the prospects of pragmatic and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Germany, especially between Qingdao and Germany.

Ren Gang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee and Mayor of Qingdao, delivered a speech stating that Qingdao has a long-standing and close exchange with Germany. Germany is Qingdao’s largest trading partner and source of foreign investment in Europe, and the friendly exchanges between the two localities are in-depth and extensive.

Yu Yong, the Consul General of China in Düsseldorf, delivered a speech stating that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was being grandly held, and he believed that this would create more market opportunities for German businesses to cooperate with China.

Schumann, Chairman of the German Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade, stated that Qingdao represents vitality, innovation and openness. China is a focus and stabilizer of the world today and in the future, and continues to expand opening-up while some countries are pursuing a closed-door policy.
Neugebauer, Director of the Greater China Region at the NRW International Business Agency, delivered a written speech on behalf of the Agency Director, stating that Germany and China, especially North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and China, have maintained close cooperation. Over 30 Qingdao-based enterprises have settled in NRW, and the Agency is willing to support both sides in further developing their long-term close partnership and conducting more two-way investments in future-oriented fields such as sustainable development, energy efficiency, and digitalization.
